The SACL, a non-profit organization, got its start at the grassroots level in 1955 when just a few determined parents came together, literally over coffee at someone's kitchen table, united in the belief that life should and would be better for their children with intellectual disabilities. And they made it happen.
The Association is proud of that tradition of determination. We count on our friends, neighbours, businesses and corporations to help create better, stronger communities in which every person belongs. We want safe, secure and involved lives for our sons and daughters, our friends and their families. We believe everyone deserves a good life in the community. By meeting the needs of people with intellectual disabilities, we know life will be better for all of us.
Friends help us grow. In fact, 75 per cent of our budget comes from donations. There are a number of ways you can support people with intellectual disabilities from the donation of quality used clothing and household items to planned giving opportunities.
Support us by becoming part of our family.
